Which is better for training--an academic center or a community teaching hospital?

I spent two years in a community program followed by three in an academic one. I feel fortunate to have perspectives from both. I felt my academic center experience trained me better to work independently (we were largely unsupervised, compared to constantly supervised at the community program). Still, I saw residents from both programs go into fellowships at about an equal rate. Others' mileage may vary.
Thanks for your unique point of view. I'm sure there are good and bad examples of both types of programs. Finding the right level of supervision is hard and may depend on the differing ability of each resident.
