However, all it does is reinforce the idea that he was incapable of traveling alone.Skeptical Scalpelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13206922456661320751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4968787219619380438.post-64508074425225775002012-05-01T16:59:47.089-04:002012-05-01T16:59:47.089-04:00"He went to a police station, and there was n..."He went to a police station, and there was nobody in the police station," his mom said.

Erik McBee said he called 911.

"They said that they're not a taxi service and hung up," he said.

Something about these three sentences doesn't smell right. He apparently did go into the city of St. Louis.

You may be right about why he did that. It's an amazing story. I hope it gets made into a movie like, "Terminal," the one with Tom Hanks stranded in the airport.Skeptical Scalpelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13206922456661320751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4968787219619380438.post-78277701300204605332012-01-04T17:55:48.276-05:002012-01-04T17:55:48.276-05:00I live in St Louis and I have a 15 yo son. Therefore, I can confirm that this boy is not the only 15 yo without a cell phone.
My guess is that the boy got off the plane, eventually realized it wasn't Tulsa, was too embarrassed to ask for help, and got on the MetroLink light rail out of the airport. If he was actually wandering around St Louis, as opposed to the airport (your post did not specify), that is really the only way he could have left. The light rail is a random ticket check so he could have gone downtown free.
Or, more likely, he had $5 and bought himself McDonald's somewhere.
Southwest is probably flogging whoever thought that seat on from Tulsa was 'occcupied' when it could have been sold!
Agree that Southwest's culpability here is small compared to the general irresponsibility exercised by the parent.plumtreenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4968787219619380438.post-56551158444205311782012-01-04T12:45:22.860-05:002012-01-04T12:45:22.860-05:00I can't believe someone hasn't figured out...I can't believe someone hasn't figured out how to blame this on Bush!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4968787219619380438.post-76869172611448864732012-01-04T10:50:33.774-05:002012-01-04T10:50:33.774-05:00Wait, there's been a development in the story....Wait, there's been a development in the story.
